Outdoor activity or recreation is usually referred to leisure pursuits that are engaged outdoors, often in natural or semi-natural settings away from urban areas. Some examples include trekking, hiking, mountain biking, backpacking, rafting, canoeing, rock climbing, trail running, rowing and other sports.
Outdoor activities can also be referred to a team sport that is held in an outdoor setting. When the activities involve physical challenge, or risk, excitement such as during rock climbing, paragliding or white water rafting, it is referred to as adventure recreation. The two primary benefits of outdoor recreation can be better fitness and better health.
Other benefits can result in soul-searching and bonding with team/family members. Some goal-directed outdoor activities are rafting, kayaking, backpacking, trekking, canyoning, caving, and camping. These types of outdoor activities can be rewarding mentally, emotionally and even spiritually.
The outdoors can be a physical as well as a social setting that meets the requirements of physical health, socializing, confidence building, risk-taking, while fulfilling or enhancing the stamina, testing your endurance and facing challenges.
One can pursue outdoor activities in pursuit of finding peace in nature, relaxing while enjoying life. It can also be used for education and teambuilding.
