All foreign nationals who want to enter India need to possess a valid international travel document such as a passport with a valid visa that is obtained from an Indian Mission or Post abroad.
All visa applicants are requested to apply for the Indian Visa online by filling the online application form to get the Indian Visa.
The duly signed hard copy of the completed application form is to be submitted at the concerned Indian Visa Application Center (IVAC) or directly to the Indian Mission or Post. The instructions to fill the form and appointment scheduling can be seen at the Instructions for Regular Visa Application. The applicant is required to bring the referral number and the required documents on the scheduled date of Interview.

Visa Processing Time
The Indian Mission/post requires a minimum of 3 working days to process the application upon the receipt of the application form. The issuance of the visa can take longer depending on the nationality of the applicants.
The applicant is allowed to upload a digital photo while applying online to complete the regular visa application. The digital photo that is to be uploaded with the visa application should meet the following requirements.
- Format: JPEG
- Size should be a Minimum 10 KB and Maximum 300 KB
- The height and width of the Photo have to be equal.
- The photo should show the Full face, front view, eyes open.
- Center head within the frame and present full head from top of hair to bottom of the chin.
The background has to be light colored or white.
There must not be shadows on the face or the background.
The photo must not have borders.
The photo needs to present a full head from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin.
Head size measurement - 1 inch to 1-3/8 inches (25mm to 35mm).
Make sure the eyes height is between 1-1/8 inches to 1-3.
Fee for Indian Visa
The fee for the visa depends on the type of visa applied and the duration. The Visa fee is divided into various types depending on the case such as:
Basic fee, special fee, processing fee (if done through an outsourcing agency.
The basic fee is displayed during the online registration process. However, the fee will on be indicative and final fee is charged when applying to the respective counter. The Fee is non-refundable even when the application is withdrawn, a visa is not granted or if the visa is issued for a shorter duration than applied for or for other reasons.
