Jambay
Lhakhang Drub:
This festival is held in Bumthang annually around end of October or
sometimes beginning of November; and is held to honour the deeds of Guru
Rimpoche, an Indian saint who brought Tantric form of Buddhism in
Bhutan.
Tangbi Mani Festival - This is a four
day festival performed in Tangbi Lhakhang, located in Tangbi village.
This festival is organised by the people of three vilages viz.Tangbi,
Goling & Kharsath and displays the rich cultural heritage of thi
sancient Lhakhang. It will be an opportunity to come in closer contact
with the local folks and their way of living, beliefs and more.
Thimphu Tsechu:
Tsechu are religious festival honoring Guru Rimpoche, the patron saint
who brought Buddhism in
Bhutan in the 8th century.
He is regarded as the founder of the Nyingmapa sect of Buddhism, the
"oldest school" of Lamaism which is still followed very popularly.
Ura Yakchoe - Ura is a
beautiful village set amidst a pristine highland meadow across the
ThumsinglaPass.
The village has retained its traditional character and holds its own
festival that offers an insight into lives of the rural Bhutanese.
The
festival commemorates deeds of the great saint Guru Rimpoche which are
performed in the form of masked dances. The local folk attend these
festivals to built merit. It is also a festive time for the locals who
come dressed-up in their finest costumes full of color to socialize and
merry making.
Tsechu or the religious festivals are usually the main tourist
attractions for visitors.Thimphu & Paro Festivals
accounts for over 50 per cent of the total arrivals; and certainly Paro
Tsechu is the most popular one with its unique unfurling of the world’s
biggest Thangka or Thongdrel ceremony. The pageantry is a unique
experience and that nothing you have ever seen before…
This festival takes place in the first month of the lunar year and ends
with ‘Serda’, a magnificent procession which re-enacts an episode of the
war against the Tibetans in the 17th century.
This festival includes masked dances; and wears spectacular costumes
made of yellow silk or rich brocade, often decorated with ornaments of
carved bone. For certain dances, the monks wear masks which represent
fearsome deities, animals or skulls of human being.

the old bazaars and some of the oldest monuments in the country. In
comparison to Nepal, there are exceptionally very little movements in
terms of trekking within major parts of Bhutan.
